March 17, 2020 – Journalists at The Roanoke Times marked Lee Enterprises’ takeover of Warren Buffett’s BH Media Group on Monday with an announcement on Tuesday: They’re forming the Timesland News Guild, becoming the first to organize since the purchase was announced in January. March 16, 2020 – Members of the Indivisible Union won voluntary union on March 13 following a “card check,” where 46 of 48 employees indicated support forming the union. They will become members of the Washington-Baltimore Local 32035 of The NewsGuild-CWA. The cards were certified by Arbitrator Herb Fishgold. March 10, 2020 – The NewsGuild-CWA is urging locals and staff to ensure that employers have established protocols to protect workers and prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on the job.
