CONNECTICUT – Reporters, photographers, editors and digital producers working for Connecticut’s largest print/digital news organization have voted overwhelmingly to form a union with The NewsGuild-CWA, joining newsrooms around the country by claiming a voice in decisions about their working conditions, pay, protections against unfair discipline and more.

Newsletter: Election Day Strike at the New York Times

Yesterday, I joined our picket line at the New York Times in the largest tech worker strike in U.S. history. The energy was extremely high, culminating in a rally at 1 p.m. in front of the Times. We’ve got 675 colleagues in the New York Times Tech unit, which unionized in March 2022 and has been fighting for a first contract ever since.

Journalists at Anchorage Daily News — Alaska’s largest newsroom — file petition to form a union

The journalists and news staff at Anchorage Daily News took a major step Tuesday toward forming a union. Organizers filed a petition for a union election with the National Labor Relations Board and have requested voluntary recognition from leadership at Anchorage Daily News.

Roughly 80% of the newsroom staff at ADN are publicly in support of joining the Pacific Northwest Newspaper Guild, a local union of The NewsGuild-CWA. By forming the Anchorage News Guild, the workers aim to advocate for fair wages, increased transparency and a sustainable workplace environment.
