Journalists of The Columbian Vote 19 to 8 to Unionize

Oct. 31, 2019 – The extraordinary wave of union organizing hit the Pacific northwest Thursday, when journalists at The Columbian in Vancouver, WA, voted 19-8 to to become the newest members of The NewsGuild-CWA. L.A. Times journalists ratify groundbreaking first contract

Oct. 31, 2019 – Journalists of the Los Angeles Times voted 388 to 3 on Thursday to ratify the first collective bargaining agreement in the newsroom’s 138-year history. Journalists of the Daily Progress vote 12 to 1 to form Blue Ridge Guild

Oct. 30, 2019 – The journalists of the Daily Progress in Charlottesville, VA, voted 12 to 1 to form the Blue Ridge Guild on Wednesday.

The vote via secret ballot came two weeks after The Daily Progress staffers announced their intention to form a union, which will allow employees to collectively bargain with BH Media Group, the publication’s owner since 2012.
