Dec. 10, 2019 – Approximately 3,527 ballots will be counted in the election of NewsGuild-CWA president, the American Arbitration Association has reported. A total of 3,597 were received, but 70 have been set aside because of questions of eligibility.
The AAA is supervising the vote tally. Results of the tally are expected in the afternoon.
Oct. 28, 2019 – On Oct. 26, 2019, The NewsGuild-CWA sponsored a debate between the two candidates for union president, Bernie Lunzer and Jon Schleuss. The debate was moderated by Larry Cohen, former president of the CWA.
Sept. 27, 2019 – NewsGuild Region 2 Vice President Sheila Lindsay stepped down from the Executive Council Sept. 20, following her resignation from employment with the American Nurses Association.
“The Executive Council joins the Guild membership in thanking Sheila for her dedicated and thoughtful service as a vice president of the national union, as president of her local and as a diligent representative of her home unit,” Executive Vice President Marian Needham wrote in a memo to local officers.
Aug. 16, 2019 – The Sector Election and Referendum Committee referred to the Executive Council three questions posed by a candidate regarding eligibility to vote in the Guild’s pending presidential election. The Executive Council takes up these questions as an exercise of the responsibility assigned to it under Article IX, Section 9 of the Guild Constitution.
