Radio Free Asia members urge Congress to work with President Trump to restore funding and protect press freedom abroad

Guild members at Radio Free Asia advocated on Capitol Hill for Congress to work with President Trump to fully restore Radio Free Asia (RFA), which was effectively shut down earlier this year following sweeping cuts to the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM). The closure has left dozens of journalists without jobs and has silenced a critical voice for press freedom abroad.

CIEL Unite staff union wins voluntary recognition

The Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) management has voluntarily recognized CIEL Unite, the CIEL staff union that represents workers across the United States and Switzerland. The recognition comes after a supermajority of CIEL workers announced their intent to unionize in partnership with the Washington Baltimore News Guild (WBNG) in February.

Newsletter: Our strikers day in court

I’m heading to Pittsburgh next week for our strikers’ day in court. After 28 months on strike the National Labor Relations Board is pushing for an injunction against the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for violating U.S. labor law. Our case will be heard on Wednesday afternoon in the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals after winding through the NLRB’s process.
