May 7, 2018 – In a stunning victory for workers, the publisher of the Chicago Tribune has agreed to voluntarily recognize the union.

Knoxville Fights Back

May 3, 2018 – NewsGuild members at the Knoxville News Sentinel gave a stark reminder of the effects of layoffs at the Gannett-owned paper in late April, floating a black balloon at the desk of every worker who has been let go over the course of the current contract. Chicago Tribune Organizers: 85% Have Signed Union Cards

April 24, 2018 – Journalists at the Chicago Tribune have amassed support from 85 percent of newsroom employees for their efforts to form a unit of The NewsGuild-CWA, organizers announced Tuesday.

They asked Editor-in-Chief and Publisher Bruce Dold to voluntarily recognize the union and said they would submit signed union cards to the National Labor Relations Board on Wednesday to schedule a vote on the matter if he refused or failed to respond to their request.
