BANGOR, Maine — After three days of voting, 89 percent of BDN Union members unanimously voted to accept the terms of their first two-year contract. The union’s Bargaining Committee reached a tentative agreement with Bangor Daily News Management on Oct. 2.

Journalists across 11 Southern California newsrooms have voted to ratify a contract proposal after authorizing a strike.
NATIONAL — The Southern California News Group Guild announced today its members have voted to approve their first contract, with 93% voting in favor of ratification. The agreement comes on the heels of the Guild’s strike authorization vote in September.

Yesterday, I joined our picket line at the New York Times in the largest tech worker strike in U.S. history. The energy was extremely high, culminating in a rally at 1 p.m. in front of the Times. We’ve got 675 colleagues in the New York Times Tech unit, which unionized in March 2022 and has been fighting for a first contract ever since.

The Anchorage News Guild won their NLRB election today in a 13-4 election vote in favor of the union. Anchorage journalists will join the Pacific Northwest Newspaper Guild, a local union of The NewsGuild-CWA.
