Workers at The Investigative Journalism Foundation unionize

Workers at The Investigative Journalism Foundation (IJF) have filed to join the Canadian Media Guild (CMG) as members.  

The union filed with the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) on Thursday, September 3rd, after a more than a dozen staff signed union cards. This will be a wall-to-wall bargaining unit including workers in the editorial, development and tech departments at the digital media company.  These workers are based across the country, providing their skills and knowledge to the nationwide media sector.

Newsletter: Two legal victories, one powerful May Day.

The Third Circuit Court of Appeals denied two motions by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Tuesday that would’ve delayed a rare injunction our members won after 30 months on strike. The ruling from the court lets stand an injunction that requires the company to restore pre-2020 health care coverage, bargain in good faith and submit updates on the status of bargaining to the National Labor Relations Board.
