The NewsGuild-CWA and National Writers Union condemn Israel’s targeted killing of five Al Jazeera journalists in Gaza

The NewsGuild-CWA and National Writers Union join press freedom and human rights advocates around the world in condemning the killing of Al Jazeera correspondents Anas al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqeh, cameramen Ibrahim Zaher and Moamen Aliwa, and their assistant Mohammed Noufal in a targeted attack in Gaza City.

At Least 128 Journalists and Media Workers Killed in Israel-Gaza War

At least 128 journalists and media workers have been killed in the Israel-Gaza War since the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ). All but five of those killed were Palestinian. Four journalists and media workers were Israeli and one was Lebanese. More than 41,000 other Palestinians have also been killed, according to Reuters. The majority of those victims identified by Palestinian health authorities are women and children.
