Pay equity studies conducted by the Guild at publications across the country have consistently found salary gaps for women and people of color, including at the nation’s most prestigious news organizations.
Learn how to identify and correct racial and gender salary disparities by conducting a pay equity study and mobilizing your members to fight for change.
Journalists from the Washington Post, New York Times and elsewhere will share how they conducted salary studies in their newsrooms and achieved results. All NewsGuild members will be able to benefit from the discussion.
The timing of the training is appropriate: Aug. 13 has been designated Black Women’s Equal Pay Day, which symbolizes how far into this year Black women on average must work to earn what their white male peers earned in the previous year.
