Update March 7, 2022: GMG Union announced March 6 that they had reached a tentative agreement with G/O Media Management.
March 3, 2022: The NewsGuild-CWA sent a message of solidarity to the striking workers at Gizmodo, Jalopnik, Jezebel, Kotaku, Lifehacker and The Root, who are members of GMG Union and the Writers Guild of America (East).
“We’re inspired by your determination to win justice in your workplaces,” NewsGuild President Jon Schleuss and Executive Vice President Marian Needham wrote. “We support your demands: to protect your healthcare, improve pay, win adequate family leave, negotiate safe and flexible return-to-office procedures, enact a robust diversity policy and maintain protection against forced relocations.
“We encourage our members to contribute to your fundraising efforts and echo your call for people to refrain from clicking on or contributing content to the publications.
“Our common struggles lift each other up and raise the standards throughout our industry.
“The 25,000 members of The NewsGuild stand with you! When we fight, we win!” they wrote.
