The NewsGuild-CWA joins workers across the U.S. and around the world in mourning the death of Richard L. Trumka.
Rich dedicated his life to fighting for the rights and dignity of workers, from his earliest days in the minefields of Pennsylvania until his death as president of the AFL-CIO.
He demanded a voice at work for all who labor.
“I remember being moved when Rich reached out in 2018 after we won the union at the L.A. Times,” said NewsGuild-CWA President Jon Schleuss. “He visited us in downtown Los Angeles in our Guild office to express his congratulations and excitement. A good leader reaches out and connects directly with rank-and-file workers and Rich did.”
