The election for president of The NewsGuild-CWA is underway. Balloting among eligible members in good standing will be conducted based on the voting method selected by each local. Members are advised to watch their mail for information on receiving and casting a ballot.
♦The vast majority of locals opted to have the Sector Election and Referendum Committee mail ballots to their members. Some locals opted to conduct the mailing at the local level. In both instances, members of those locals will receive their election notice and ballot in the mail and will return the ballot to the SERC through the mail.
♦ Locals offering in-person balloting will conduct that polling between April 10-15, 2019. Members of those locals will receive an election notice in the mail, identifying the date, time and location of balloting. The local will return the ballots to the SERC post office box.
♦ Locals using workplace distribution of ballots will mail notice to members’ homes, detailing the date and location of ballot distribution and instructions for balloting. Voters will return their ballot by mail to the SERC post office box.
♦ A few locals will offer both in-person balloting and the option of mail balloting for members for whom it would be impracticable to vote in person.
A list of each local’s selection of voting methods can be found here.
IMPORTANT: Guild members in good standing who did not receive a ballot should email Marian Needham or call her at 716-713-1195.
Regardless of the voting method, all ballots must be returned to the SERC post office box prior to Monday, May 13.
