Chicago NewsGuild joins federal lawsuit to stop ICE and DHS agents from targeting reporters at Broadview protests. The Guild release the following statement:
Guild members each day do the hard and sometimes dangerous work of reporting the news in our region. The past few weeks, the repeated clashes between protestors and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at the ICE facility in Broadview has been one of the top headlines, and our members are the ones doing the reporting.

On Monday, September 22, Cascade PBS announced its decision to eliminate its written news and investigations operation which will result in the layoff of nine union journalists of the Pacific Northwest Newspaper Guild along with an early-career fellow and four editors.

Journalists powering Signal Ohio’s nonprofit newsrooms in Akron, Cleveland and Columbus won voluntary recognition of their union, making the Signal Ohio News Workers Guild an official member of the Northeast Ohio NewsGuild, Local 34001 of Communications Workers of America.
An injunction now bars the Trump administration from assaulting journalists in Southern California. On September 10 we won a preliminary injunction blocking the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which includes the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs & Border Protection, from brutalizing journalists, legal observers and protestors.
