NewsGuild-CWA Stands in Solidarity with Striking CBS News 24/7 Workers

Workers at CBS are walking out. The unionized team that runs CBS’ streaming service launched a 24-hour strike in New York and San Francisco after negotiations with CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss reportedly imploded. Despite multiple days of good-faith negotiations and a strike pledge signed by 95% of members, management continues to offer worse terms than in previous contracts.

“The NewsGuild-CWA stands in full solidarity with Writers Guild of America East members walking out at CBS News today,” said NewsGuild-CWA President Jon Schleuss.

“CBS News workers deserve a fair contract from CBS and the new Paramount management. Workers face existential threats, layoffs, editorial interference and political pressure. Journalists must be allowed to do their jobs with respect and without interference.”
