Consumer Reports Guild Votes Overwhelmingly to Ratify Collective Bargaining Agreement  

The contract includes up to 12 weeks of parental leave at full pay, guaranteed wage increases of 14% (compounded), a $3k ratification bonus, and strong DEI policies. 

The Consumer Reports Guild, which represents over 250 workers at Consumer Reports Magazine and consumerreports.org, voted overwhelmingly to ratify their contract 192 to 4.

BuzzFeed News Union votes overwhelmingly to approve a strike amidst announcement of newsroom cuts

The union slams news of cuts as regressive bargaining, plans to strike if management continues bargaining in bad faith. 

Members of BuzzFeed News Union announced Tuesday that they have voted overwhelmingly to authorize the bargaining team to call a strike if management continues bargaining in bad faith. The vote was taken during the afternoon bargaining session. The unit represents 61 members and is part of The NewsGuild of New York Local 31003. Ninety percent of the unit participated in the strike vote, with 91% voting to authorize the bargaining team to call a strike.

NY officials denounce Dotdash Meredith’s neglect of HERO Act

NY Senate Deputy Majority Leader Michael Gianaris, Labor Committee Chair Jessica Ramos, along with 22 New York electeds sent a letter in support of 170 media workers at Dotdash Meredith organizing for better health & safety standards.

NYT Tech Workers Celebrate Blowout Win in Historic Union Election

80% of workers vote for union representation, capping hard-fought campaign

Times Tech Guild is now officially the largest union of tech workers with bargaining rights in the country

The National Labor Relations Board today announced that, in a 404-88 blowout vote, New York Times tech workers had won their election for a union, after a year-long campaign that was met with aggressive union-busting tactics from management. 85% of the unit voted in the election.

NYT Tech Guild Kicks Off Union Election

An election to formalize the union of 600 New York Times tech workers began Monday as the National Labor Relations Board mailed ballots to eligible employees. It is a historic milestone in a campaign where workers have fought for recognition since first announcing that they had formed a union last April. Ballots will be counted between February 28 and March 7.

Sports Illustrated Union members vote unanimously to ratify first contract

The contract includes an industry-leading policy against production quotas and a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. 

NEW YORK — Sports Illustrated Union, which represents 94 workers across the sports publication, voted unanimously to ratify their first contract with Sports Illustrated management and The Arena Group on Jan. 20. The deal was finalized on Dec. 31, 2021.

NLRB sets election date for NY Times Tech Guild, rejects management’s attempts to disenfranchise workers

In a long-awaited decision, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) today ruled that New York Times tech workers can hold a vote on unionization starting later this month as one united bargaining unit. It marks a major victory for tech workers at the Times, who first announced the formation of their union in April and have met resistance from the Times at every step, including an attempt in August to divide the group into separate job-specific units and disenfranchise dozens of voters.
