Several hundred employees at one of the country’s preeminent news organizations – the Los Angeles Times – just voted to form a union! They are joining 25,000 of their colleagues who are represented by The NewsGuild-CWA, the largest union of journalists and other communications professionals in the U.S. and Canada.
The journalists of the L.A. Times want a greater say in the future of the news organization they love. They want to preserve great journalism – as a vital civic service and as a career that offers stable work, livable wages, and good benefits. Soon they will begin negotiations for their first contract.
