Workers at Repair the World – a non-profit dedicated to service, Jewish engagement, and social change – have ratified their first contract.
Repair the World Workers Union is affiliated with The Washington Baltimore News Guild, Local 32035 of TNG/CWA.
Highlights of the three-year contract include:
- 3 percent wage increase and a $1,000 signing bonus
- Increased vacation days
- Employer must bargain over health benefits
- Floating holidays for religious and cultural holidays
- Layoffs: People can fill vacancies if qualified; 2-year recall list
- Parental Leave can be used within 18 months of birth
- Grievance and arbitration procedure

“As dedicated staff of Repair the World, we believe in our organization’s core values of collaboration, transparency, inclusion, and equity,” the Guild wrote in a statement following voluntary recognition. “As leaders and stakeholders in our communities, we believe that Repair the World has a responsibility to lead by example. We believe and hope that by forming our Guild Staff Union that we will continue to forge a collaborative spirit and relationship with staff and leadership moving forward. Further, we are hopeful this will set a practicable standard for what an equitable, inclusive, transparent, and healthy organization looks like for all that are invested in our mission.”
